Natural Spanish Beauty Resorts

Author : Brian Petit

Spain is a beautiful country that offers many natural beauty resorts like the Tabarca Island and Santa Pola. Although these may not be well frequented by many tourists, they are still popular with those who have discovered their natural beauty offerings.

Tabarca Island

This beautiful island resort is situated about 500 miles from Santa Pola and barely 10 miles from Alicante port.

This may not be a very big island as it is only 1800 meters long and 400 meters wide. Tabarca Island is the only island that has inhabitants in the Valencian Community. There are tiny islands around Tabarca Island which allows adventurous tourists to enjoy some island hopping excursions.

Tabarca Island was originally allotted to be a refuge used by barbarian pirates until King Carlos III had it fortified to prevent the pirates to use it in the 18th century. Genoa fishermen were placed to reside on Tabarca who were freed from the pirates but held captive there.

Three fortified gates have been well conserved with the ancient surrounding walls and San Jose watch tower. You can enjoy the San Pedro church and the Governor's house at this picturesque and quaint fishing village.

Many tourists flock to Tabarca for its white sandy beaches and rich marine life through diver expeditions where they swim with the many varied species of aquatic life freely.

Santa Pola Attractions

The town resort of Santa Pola offers beautiful beaches with small coves and warm clear Mediterranean waters. It boasts of two natural parks which are close to the resort for your enjoyment.

There are several sandy beaches with modern facilities and amenities as well as sports equipment to ensure that your holiday will always be spectacular and comfortable. You can rent beach umbrellas and chairs to laze around on the beach and watch the world go by.

There is also a nudist beach called Playa Tamarit which is quite popular with many naturalists and environmentalists.

You can get to Guardamar del Segura from Santa with a short drive to a couple of secluded sandy beaches. There is also a port at Santa Pola which draws in fishermen with their daily catches for the morning market auction.

You can also discover the ruins of ancient times where a 4th century Iberian settlement lies. You can get to Tabarca Island from Santa Pola for a day trip to enjoy its rich marine life.

There are many interesting ancient buildings at Santa Pola village that were 16th century fortresses and watch towers.

Many naturalists love the nature park at Palm Park for a leisurely stroll while spotting some exotic birds and unique flora.
