Acne And Water: The Truth About Hydration

If you want to get rid of acne, you can use all of the acne treatment products that you want, but at the end of the day you'll still need to address lifestyle issues in order to effectively get clear skin. No matter what skin care products you're using, those products can't overcome good old fashioned skin care advice when it comes to telling you how to get clear skin. What you may not realize it that the one ingredient that you need in order to have clear, beautiful skin is right there in your faucet, your refrigerator, even outside. The one ingredient that you need to have acne-free, beautiful skin is..water.

Water Creates Healthy Skin Cells: For skin cells to be healthy, and thus look their best and not create excess surface skin that can clog pores and lead to the build up of bacteria that causes acne, they need to be fully hydrated. Particularly in a day and age when we so often "hydrate" by drinking unhealthy sodas and "juices," our skin tends to be thirsty even when we don't feel thirsty ourselves. The basic rule is to drink eight glasses of water per day. If you stick to that (or more, if you can), you'll be keeping your skin healthy hydrated and reducing breakouts. You'll also be helping to regularly flush toxins from your system as well.

Eat Your Water: Another trick to staying hydrated and healthy and acne free is to eat your water instead of drinking it. When you drink water, it passes through your system relatively quickly and you need to continue to drink more to stay hydrated. However, the cellular makeup of the way that water is held in most fruits and vegetables, as described in Dr. Howard Murad's book "The Water Secret", allows your hydration to be less of an ebb and flow and instead last consistently over longer periods of time. There are plenty of reasons to eat a diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables. Healthy hydration for acne free skin is just one of them.

Remember, Only Water is Water. Yes, sports drinks, sodas, juices, punches and just about any beverage made from a mix all taste delicious. However, none of these drinks are water! All of them contain sugars and preservatives and in some cases chemicals we can't even pronounce. When you want to hydrate, there is no substitute for water. If you need a little flavor, try sprucing your water up with some lemon, lime, cucumber or ginger. However, stick the pure beverage if you want the pure skin results.
