Kerala is located on the Malabar coast of south west India the capital being Thiruvananthpuram. It is a tourist destination famous for its backwaters and ayurvedic treatments. There are several beaches where you can enjoy the cool breeze and dip in the sea water. Kovalam, Cherai, Varkala, Kappad, Muzhappilangad and Bekal are some of the famous beaches here. Besides sitting and getting a lovely tan at these beaches the tourists love to get involve in leisure activities like herbal body toning massages, sunbathing ,swimming, special cultural programmes etc. The Varkala beach attracts tourists not only for the beach but also for pilgrim purposes.The 800 year old Janardan temple dedicated to Ayyappan and Hanuman is situated here.

There are a number of ayurvedic resorts in Kerala. These resorts also provide for other heeling activities like yoga, steam bath etc. These resorts are renowned all over the world for the ayurvedic treatments.

A number of hill stations in Kerala gives you a blissful vacation away from the crowds of the city and the honking vehicles. The hill stations in Kerala are rich in vegetation and a source of spices which are exported outside India. Pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and the cashew nut are grown in plantations in the hill stations of Kerala. Some of the hill stations are Munnar,Ponmudi, Idukki, Palakkad and Vagamon.

With vast stretches of forests Kerala is home to a number of wildlife sanctuaries. The most renowned sanctuary is the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The Thattekad Bird Sanctuary is visited by the tourist to discover different varieties if birds. Idukki and Chinnar are other famous wildlife sanctuaries.

If you have come for a vacation in Kerala then you cannot miss out the backwaters. Surrounded by palm trees the backwaters of Kerala once only served the purpose of state’s trade but today they have become famous tourist attractions. These are inland lakes connected with canals. They link the remote villages to the big towns and cities so as to trade the goods produced for a better price. The largest backwater stretch is the Vembanand Lake which opens into the sea at the Kochi port. It flows through the districts of Alappuzha, Kottayam and Kochi. Alappuzha is also known as the "Venice of the East" being one of the major centres of the back water boat trip.

Folk dances and music hold a special place in Kerala. The Kerala tours help you find a way to witness the various folk dances and musical gathering which become a memory for the lifetime. Kathakali is the most famous dance form of Kerala. The meaning of Kathakali is story play. It depicts scenes from Hindu mythology.Kathakali artists wear large head dresses.They paint their faces according to the positive or negative characters they play.The dance is very graceful and mesmerising. Another famous dance form is Mohiniattam.It is a dance of enchantment performed by a woman.The dancers dress up in white Kasavu saree of Kerala with golden border. Other traditional dance forms are Koodiyattam, Ottamthullal and Chakiarkuthu.
