Food Shopping – Another Daily Chore

Author : Neil Tug

Food shopping – every housewife's favourite hobby? Or more like another unpleasant but necessary chore? The problem with food shopping is that it is time consuming and despite our best laid plans, the weekly big shop is never enough. Lots of little shops in between seem to be necessary every week – to stock up on all the little daily essentials that our families are able to get through quicker than a plague of locusts. The internet has created some time saving opportunities when it comes to food shopping – and certainly the big shop can be completed online with considerably less hassle than the non-virtual variety. However, because of the delivery charges it's harder to justify the little shops – ordering a loaf of bread and a pint of milk online will be more expensive than growing the wheat and keeping a cow in the back yard!

Well timed changes

Until recently, that is. One traditional feature of the British suburb has been under threat thanks to our new virtual food shopping habits: the trusty milkman (and women these days). Dairies have seen this backbone of their traditional business under threat for years. To combat this they took the innovative and rather simple step of simply stocking more than milk and the occasional carton of juice. With more and more people looking for locally sourced produce and fresh food delivery this move by the dairies has been very well timed indeed.

The benefits

There are two benefits to doing some of your food shopping via your local milkman's online service. After all the dairies have been delivering fresh produce to our door for longer than just about anybody else and they know a thing or two about what we want. With established rounds – rounds that are now growing again – they don't charge a delivery fee. When you add to this fact that they deliver very, very early in the morning, it then becomes obvious that they offer an unbeatable service. Orders can be made as late as nine in the evening and even if you only want a bag of spuds it will be with you first thing the next morning – minus expensive delivery charges. Compared to just about any other delivery service this really is about the best on the market.

New take on an old service

Food shopping may not be a favourite activity for many people – and finding the time to fit those little shops in can be frustrating to say the least – with the services on offer from the local milkmen and women it's likely that more and more people will soon be shopping for food using this new take on an old service.

Author's Resource Box

Food shopping can be a chore, but with some surprising new online food shopping services on offer from your local dairy there may well be a light at the end of the tunnel! With no delivery charges and early delivery times dairies are offering the most competitive food delivery service going!
