A Useful 3D Graphics Application And Bitmap Graphics Editor

Author : JackJ Reynolds

One can download a host of applications - like word processors, presentation software similar to Microsoft PowerPoint , PDF convertors etc for absolutely free. Amongst this list we also have 3D content creation suite called Blender - which works well with all major operating platforms - and an award-winning program - Tux Paint - which is a drawing aid for children aged between 3 to 12 years.
The Blender foundation tries to aid people who have access to internet with 3D technology and it has commenced their graphic application as a not-for-profit organization. As a graphic application using 3D the blender graphic application can be used for creating animations, models, textures, simulations based on water or particles, non-linear edits and applications which are interactive. Several OS like Microsoft Windows, Macintosh's OS X, Linux, Free BSD, Open BSD - can use Blender which can be downloaded and used on these platforms with ease. There is existence of unofficial ports for BeOS, AmigaOS and Pocket PC etc. It is possible for blender after downloading and using to compete with other high-end 3D software like Softimage/XSI, 3ds Max, Maya and Lightwave etc. - on scales linked to features which are robust and also have comparable extent and intensity. From the consumption point of view Blender takes less storage space and supports geometric primitives of a wide variety and basic video and audio editing which is non-linear with composting potential. Control is also offered which is obtainable in real-time during rendering and physics simulations. Blender can be downloaded easily by searching on the Internet.
On the other hand Tux paint is license-free software which can be used by pre-school and K-6 kids for painting. After downloading Tux paint becomes a crossing point which is very friendly to the aimed audience, blended with striking sound effects. As the children go about using the application a mascot - which is, Tux or the Linux Penguin - is also available in cartoon format to guide them. A black color canvas is given to the children along with a complete repertoire of wherewithal which can be used to draw to trigger creativity amongst them. A sticker-book option is also provided to install and download more artwork (called "stamps"). To cater to the special requests of kids or for an atmosphere atypical of a classroom Tux Paint can be downloaded in over 45 languages and can be very well configured. The pixel or inch related issues don't need to be bothered about as the canvas used for drawing has a fixed size. One can see the full screen displaying even for a screen as small as 640x480 - which conceals the original 'desktop' interface size that the computer has. Thumbnails are used to both load and save pictures and images - hence file system pattern of the underlying OS does not matter. Names of the files are not required. After downloading the tux paint one can have a variety of other sophisticated drawing tools like Raster bitmaps, Vector Graphics and Calligraphy also easily installed. Tux Paint can easily be downloaded from the internet using a simple Google search.
