Hair Removal Techniques With Lasers

Author : Callum Asterman

Laser hair removal is the newest technology to be adopted in a lengthy list of hair removal techniques that have been used for millennia. It's well known that the ancient Egyptians indulged, but archaeologists have yet to find any laser treatment equipment in excavations (or electricity, for that matter). It is more probable that they used plucking, scraping and perhaps some form of waxing or forms of potions to create their smooth yet bronzed skin.

Electronic removal is not new either. Mechanical epilators have been been used in different forms for many years; they consist of rotating plates and effectively act like tweezers, but far quicker than anyone could do using traditional tweezers. By the way, the name epilator is very informative in itself, as epilation simply means hair removal and can apply to any method, although these machines seem to have bagged the name. There's also electrolysis, where a thin needle is directed in the follicle and applying a small electric charge which kills it and stops regrowth. This rarely causes pain, just mild discomfort, and for many types of hair, it is the optimum long-term option.

This brings us to laser hair reduction. It is not hard to see why this has taken off all over London, as it has wherever it has become available. It's non-invasive, relatively quick and after a few sessions removes hair as permanently as can practically be expected in most cases. The technique can trace its history back through three phases starting in the early 1990s when it started being clinically tested; through the middle of the decade, when it was accepted by dermatologists as being safe; and then over the past 15 years when it became widely available in many skin care clinics across the world. Now after 10 years of popular use, the results have been effective and proven to be very safe, and if customers ensure they visit clinics with trained and regulated consultants, laser hair removal is the best method for most people.

Although the treatment is often associated with bikini lines, upper lips and eyebrows, it is not just women who are experiencing the advantage of this hair removal technique. Men who spend hours building up their physiques in the gym or exercise classes don't want their sculpted physiques hidden behind the chest rugs they inherited from their dads, and there are many women who find hairy backs and chests on their partners slightly unpleasant. Some men even use laser removal processes to get rid of facial hair, after putting up with the boring routine of shaving every morning for one day too long. This is however quite rare at the moment, but who knows what will become the norm in the future. The grooming and cosmetic industry for men seems to going from strength to strength.

London is already a world class centre for medical, health and cosmetic surgeries, it will come as no surprise that some of the best clinics for laser hair treatment are located in the English capital city. Prospective customers ahould always remember that quality controlled and regulated clinics should always be used, as the technology is powerful and should only be used by experts. Never let cheaper, unregulated clinics tempt you with a cut price alternative. Modern laser hair removal methods are certainly effective and tests prove over and over again that the procedures are safe and long lasting.
