Denver Internet Marketing & Web Design | An Introduction To Blogging

Author : Mary Clogenmeir

Blogging is an act of writing content on a blog or an online journal. Over the last few years blogging has gained a lot of popularity because it lets people to communicate with each other and it has become an Internet marketing buzzword. Blogging gives people the platform to voice their opinions, share their views and comment on other's articles and blogs and share knowledge.
Blogs are articles or posts that are listed in a reverse chronological order. Each of these posts have its unique URL called as Permalink. Most often these posts allow comments from readers to which the author may send his or her reply. That opens up a channel for interaction and improves the chances of visitors coming back to read more. Blogs have different purposes. The author may wish to notify, educate, entertain or provoke its reader by creating authentic content.
Before the advent of the internet, if people wanted to have a dialogue, they had to meet each other personally face-to-face, talk over the phone, or communicate via post and telegrams. This kind of communication had a major drawback. It was limited to just two or at the most a few people. With blogging this drawback is complete eliminated. A blog once posted on a blogging website is practically available for the whole world to read. Anyone who is looking for the topic under which a blog is posted can get to read the authors views and even post comments. This way the author and the reader can communicate and exchange their individual views and thoughts.
In the initial days blogging was almost considered as an online diary. Today writing a blog is not just for your own self but it is for others to read. Although blogging is still in the sense writing for oneself or one's own business, but it is written in a way that makes it interesting for others. The success of a blog can be measured in the number of readers, comments and reposts the blog has received.
Blogging today is used as an effective search engine optimization (SEO) tool because it gets frequently updated with content, visitors and comments and the search engine spiders looking for new content quickly index these blogs. They are no longer just text, blogs today include images, video, audio clips and slideshow. These embedded media adds excitement and value to the actual content and makes it more interesting for people to read, comment and share it further with their contacts.
Today practically everybody is blogging. People are talking about everything in their blogs. Be it the review of a new film that hit the screen, the latest news happening around the world, interesting scientific discoveries, product reviews or any other subject, you will find someone blogging about it.
