Hip Hop Self-create: Don't Let Your Budget Restrict You

Author : Luke Thomsen

Often success comes with talent. Not just the talent of the rapper but also the most talent technicians, programmers, producers, musicians, recording engineers… the entire support staff. So, what you hear on the record label isn't just the world star artist, it is the works of a great team.

But you are a rapper too! And sure enough, you are talented. So what stops you?

What does one do if you don't have that kind of money? Well! It's Simple.

1. Buy your rap beats and hip hop instrumentals from the internet
2. Use one of the many available soft-wares to record your rap- track
3. Record your own high quality song.

An instrumental form the internet can be a good cost effective choice as obtaining license for the beats is also inexpensive. The file formats in which they can be downloaded are usually .wav and .mp3; other formats are also known. In case you are willing to spend some more you can even buy "exclusive" beats from many of these sites. These beats if licensed to you will be removed from the list and not sold to anyone else in order to maintain the exclusivity.

In such a method, you do have to keep a check on the music being recorded, the quality of the demo that you want to make and other details too. You should also be careful about the beats that you select. In a bid to pick up the most popular ones, you must not miss out on the beats that will suit your song. Quite often the best producers put up classic beats on not-so-well-designed websites; which might result in the desired beat not appearing on your top search result. Which is why, I would urge you to browse, listen and find.

Once the recoding is complete, the formats are generally changed. You require specific tools to convert the file to the desired format; generally this is done by the producer, but if you yourself are the producer, you shouldn't miss out on this. Also the quality of the beat may have to be altered; you must note all the requirements to avoid your song from sounding jar or like a piece of musical-jig-saws. Many websites offer memberships and access to many thousand beats for some fee but in such cases listen and check the sound quality. You wouldn't want to empty your wallet for a bunch of beats that don't match the industry standard.

Last but not the least, the microphone that you shall use! There are many budget microphones available in the market. Many do not even require you to have a stand or set-up. All you need to do is connect it to your computer through USB or plug-in channel and start your recording. Voila! You have just composed your own rap songs. Doesn't that feel great? So go ahead. Make your hip hop music.
