Long Term Results By Applying Off Page SEO

Author : Janise Majette

If you want to become knowledgeable about search engine optimization, you have to take the time to learn all the ins and outs. If you want your site to rank well, and maintain its rank, you have to follow some basic off page (in addition to on page) SEO strategies, and that's what we'll be focusing on in this article.

Make sure that the page you're getting backlinks from is popular enough. The sites you get from your backlinks from need to be known in your niche and have some presence. So, the more popular your referrer page, the better. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that you should ignore all the other backlinks that are targeted. This is only one factor that needs to be considered before gaining your backlinks. While off page search engine optimization isn't as complicated as others make it out to be, your results depend on the quality of your backlinks.

Secondly, look into your site and see if the site map is complete and if it has keywords in the anchor text. Without a site map, it will be hard for the search engines to find all of your site's pages, and this will make it hard to rank well. Your site map is a clearly laid out route for the search engines to find directions and to know more about your site. This should be one of your first tasks when it comes to optimizing your site. The number of pages and overall size of your site may also have implications for SEO, but not everyone agrees on this point. On the one hand, with a larger site you have more pages and content to rank for, yet many site owners who know what they're doing also manage to rank their small sites highly too.

You may be able to rank well with a smaller site, so you could start out this way and see what happens. You may find that a smaller site can't reach the place you're aiming for, especially in a competitive niche, so you may have to expand it. By experimenting, you can find out for sure what works for you.

Being successful with on page SEO means abiding by the rules laid out by Google and living up to their expectations as best as you can. While search engines like Bing and Yahoo! matter, you should focus on Google. This is exactly why you should not pay anyone for traffic or for links. This will not only bring you low quality traffic, it will also raise a red flag with Google, as they don't like websites that get into link buying. Lastly, it's important to make sure all the sites you link to are legitimate and not spammy. You will only make your site look bad if you get a backlink from a spammy website because the search engines are very particular about them. Having good neighbors is necessary, and nothing could be more true than that when it comes to SEO. So every website that you link to needs to be relevant to your site and also needs to reputable and genuine. All in all, from the above article it becomes clear that search engine optimization has many different factors that need to be focused upon. If you want to get the best results from your off-page SEO efforts, then don't waste any time and start applying what you've learned here.
