Getting Backlinks To Your Site From The Right Places

Author : Rob Selaney

Every blog or website needs a steady supply of backlinks from quality sources if it's going to make any headway. If you're after targeted traffic -and what site owner isn't?- you already know that the best way to get it for free is by getting the major search engines to rank your site highly. In order to tap into search engine traffic, you will have to build backlinks to your site on a regular basis. Even after you get the top position, you will have to continue your backlink creation so that you are able to maintain that rank and have a consistent flow of traffic.

Simply Ask: If you want to get backlinks, the easiest way is to request them from other bloggers and website owners. You'll be surprised as to the kind of response you can get by simply asking others for a backlink. In order for this to work, though, it's important that you approach the site owners in a way that doesn't put them off. If you simply email someone with one line asking them to link to you, you obviously won't get a response. You have to communicate with them in a considerate way, and make some positive comments about their website or blog. You should gradually lead up to your point and not rush into it. This type of communication, aside from getting you links, will enable you to build real relationships with other site owners. Make Use of Social Bookmarking Sites: Delicious, Digg and other social bookmarking sites have become extremely popular and you can easily gain backlinks from them by simply submitting them. There are a growing number of these type of sites, and it's easy and free to join them and submit your links. You only have to sign up once for each site, and then you're free to do your bookmarking. Don't, however, keep bookmarking the same url and nothing else or you'll look like a spammer.

Commenting on Social Sites Works Well: Many people do social bookmarking, but not many realize they can also comment on these sites. Commenting is permitted on all of these sites, and in many cases you have the opportunity to add a link pointing to your site. Since social sites hold a great reputation with the search engines, you'll see that these backlinks are actually valuable. You don't only have to comment on new pages, but you can also browse through the older ones, many of which will have attained a high page rank, and you'll be getting a high quality backlink. What you should understand from this article is that the best strategy is to obtain backlinks from as many diverse places as you can. It will take you some time to get used to the daily task of building more and more backlinks, but eventually, it's all worth it.
