Effective MLM Marketing System Training Explains Why

Author : Jodi Ouellette

In a previous piece, I wrote about one way we transformed our mlm marketing system training resulting in improved team building skills. We often spend time teaching people how to use a system, but fail to teach them why the system is designed as it is. Knowing why is as relevant as knowing how. Understanding why brings clarity to the process, making the activity of the how more important. If you want fewer team members trying to circumvent the process, or find the magic shortcuts, you need to show them the purpose of each step and how it relates to the results.

If you are wondering what in the world I am talking about, let me share an example with you. A prior mlm marketing system my team was using, included a particular arrangement of interview questions relevant to a individuals's finances and credit. Initially, most new team members were very uncomfortable asking individuals questions about their current earnings, their debt, and their credit, because after all asking people how much money they earned or how well they were doing was just taboo. Since our company accommodates various programs for starting a business, counting installment and finance options, this data was very valuable to know about our candidates. Understanding the person's finances permitted us to direct each candidate in making the right choices for their start up options.

As soon as our partners knew why we required the information, it became easier for them to matter-of-factly conduct an interview without skipping pertinent questions. If you don't know why, to the average person it really felt as though they were probing a little too deep. It is a matter of understanding the relevance of each aspect of a mlm marketing system, noting the reason for inclusion.

Why Is Your MLM Marketing System Designed That Way?

Timing and the order of process is critical to succeeding with any mlm marketing system. Effective training should consist of teaching your new partners why the order and timing has been established . It has been said that timing can make or break any business deal. Relating the idea to mlm, the timing and course of action, or altering the order or system can be the distinction between success or failure.

Here's an idea of how timing relates. If you ask an individual to make a commitment too early in the process, or if you fail to ask at the right time, it can result in losing the potential sale or partner. Even if that person seemed incredibly enthusiastic about your opportunity. If you haven’t taken enough time to establish trust, foster a connection, show value, and reveal to a person how your business can help them, you may be regarded as pushy or desperate. Pushing a person before they have had adequate time to educate them self can result in suspicion, and you can lose the deal altogether. On the contrary, if you fail to ask for a commitment at the right time, or permit too much time to pass, a person can lose their initial excitement, begin to second guess or have reservations about their decision, skepticism sets in, and you’ve lost a potential partner as well. These are two examples of why teaching order and timing is critical with your mlm marketing system.

The amount of money to invest in a business affects the timing and flow of mlm marketing systems. If the investment is larger, the time with be lengthened. When a new team player understands why the cycle may include several steps for bigger investment decisions, or fewer steps for less significant investment decisions, it solidifies the reason why they ought to adhere to the process. If you are asking somebody to invest $2000-$4000 in your business, it would be safe to say, you’re most likely not going to ask that question during a first or second contact. If you're asking without giving first, you’ve probably had more people running in the other direction, rather than eagerly asking to sign on the dotted line. Whereas, if you offer a business that has initial costs of a few hundred or less, the perceived risk is far less, so the trust building process doesn’t take as much time.

Examples Of MLM Marketing System “Why Explanations”

Example one – Our mlm marketing system uses scheduling appointments for first contacts. Why? Most new partners don't have a confident posture to control a discussion during a initial contact, and may not know how to answer questions early in their business. Scheduling an appointment also sends the message you are busy and can just schedule those that are seriously interested.

Example two - We allow potential candidates to evaluate our product or mlm marketing system risk free prior to making a commitment. Why? We have a higher perceived risk due to start up cost, so allowing a person to see, touch, and feel the product or system, increases value, builds credibility, allowing a prospective partner to build belief in our company. When a person has first hand experience, they can make an educated decision which removes buyer’s remorse.

Example three - Our potential partners must review our compensation plan training prior to making a decision. Why? The video shows them what they need to know concerning the various ways to earn an income, their income potential, as well as the process and timing. The training lets them know what to expect, as well as what is realistic and attainable. It prepares them for your next appointment, and allows you to focus on helping them get started, rather than answering questions.

Example four – We use third party validation through three-way calls. Why? It shows people there is a team ready to support them, letting them know you’re not a one man show. It is also used for edifying you as a leader, and prove the mlm marketing system produces results, instilling confidence in their decision to work with you.

These are just a few examples of teaching the why of a mlm marketing system. Through the years I have watched people try to alter steps, skip steps, and search for shortcuts. When you change a recipe, you alter the outcome. It is when we understand why each step within a mlm marketing system is important, that we actually completely uphold the process as planned. It’s not always the how that challenges new business owners, it’s knowing why.
