The Experience Of Using A 3D TV For Video Games

Author : Jamie Simpson

As we move into the next decade, there have been revolutions in the way we watch television and play video games. Twenty years ago, few people thought that Mario or Link would be leaping off the screens in the way they are today. As the video game company evolves, and they start using the advantages of 3D televisions, you are going to see video games doing things that you only thought was possible in the movies.

Consider you are in a war simulator like Call of Duty. Where before, you would run and hide in the terrain, dodging bullets and grenades as the sound of gunfire surrounded you, now with 3D television technology, that experience has never been so immersive. A grenade flies through the air at you and for a moment you consider that it is sitting on the floor in the middle of your living room. Before, a helicopter flew by and the sound was enough to make you turn your head, but with this new technology you can sense the depth and weight of such a monstrosity as it flies by, dropping off more troops to send you to your demise.

War simulators aren't the only type of games that are going to benefit from the future of 3D gaming. There is a huge market of driving games that are already utilizing the idea of putting you in the front seat of a highly tuned and turbo charged speed machine. Where many games in this style would concentrate on the graphics outside of the vehicle, now they can give you the depth and realism of what it feels like to really be driving a Motocross bike or Nascar racer. The experiences are unlimited.

The early adopters are already paving the way by speaking the praises of 3D television. As the technology grows, allowing more people the opportunity to make it a part of their living room, the more different and interesting ideas are going to come out of it in respect to video games. The first string of 3D games are already on the shelves, and the people that are able to utilize the special 3D features are all saying how different it makes gaming feel. Match this up with a large screen high definition television, interactive platform like the X-Box Kinect or Playstation Move, and surround sound audio, and there might not be a reason to go outside anymore!

The next step in video games is just arriving, and it is going to take time to adapt to changing the way they experience their interactive adventures. If the chance arises, treat yourself and try out playing a game on a 3D television and you will immediately recognize that the landscape of gaming has changed forever.
