How To Analyse Data From Employee Online Assessments

As part of career growth and operation improvement, companies need to assess the skill levels and quality of work performance. This can not only help to locate problem areas for the employee, but also provide goals for future growth of an individual within a corporation. An effective way to gain a over arching opinion of employees is to conduct anonymous surveys that the employees can fill out. This allows them to provide feedback on co-workers that may not be readily apparent by management. This will require devising a method to interpret these results. How to analyse data from employee online assessments will require some foresight to obtain a practical approach.

As an organization begins to map out the process of how to analyse data from employee online assessments, determine how to store the data. A database presents the functionality required to build a custom application for storing the data. The fields can be modified to fit the data needs and the tables can be expanded upon as the survey becomes more robust. Once the data has been imported into the database, the built in query functions allow the creation of different scenarios to compile information out of the results.

After the database has been created, the next step in how to analyse data from employee online assessments is to create benchmarks. Before assessing the skill levels of employees, a standard needs to be established. This will allow the comparisons of results with the expectations. These baselines may need to be fine tuned after multiple results have been investigated. The first draft of these baselines should be seen as a guideline for future improvement. As a greater awareness is realized from the information gained from the system, the benchmarks can be modified. This will occur naturally as the system continues to mature.

After determining the effect of benchmarks on how to analyse data from employee online assessments, review the reporting needs. The queries that are created can be modified in a fashion to reveal different aspects of performance. Once a query has been selected, the reporting functions should allow for individualized results and overall statistics. The individual reports should contain data that only pertains to the employee in question. This is a great tool to use during employee review periods. It helps the employee make goals and sets objectives of performance. The compilation of all employee data should be used by managers to improve operations.

One final thing to realize about how to interpret the results of a survey on employee skills is that the system needs to be continually reviewed to make sure that it accurately reflects employee skill levels. As a company improves the processes, the skill sets that a worker employs will alter. The survey should accurately reflect this. A survey that is outdated will have little usefulness when it comes time to review the data. One of the questions in the survey can ask about the relevance of the survey to help facilitate improvement.
