From Used Static Caravans To Luxury Motorhomes – The British Holiday Is Here To Stay

Author : Sam Paul

Has anyone else noticed that the Great British Holiday, the one your parents used to go on about when you were four, is back with a vengeance? From used static caravans to luxury motorhomes, the British craze for getting amongst it in the open air has received something of a second wind – and it’s every bit as good as your parents told you it was.

There is something incredibly special about getting away from the regimented nature of hotels and package holidays. When you choose to take your family for a holiday in a caravan or motorhome, the whole emphasis shifts. Whereas you spent last year being shunted from ferry to hotel to pool side to dinner and eventually back to the ferry again, complaining at every stop that you came here to relax, not to be herded around like a goat: this year you get to get up when you want, have breakfast when you want. You even get to stay where you want and to move on if where you were last night does not appeal this morning.

There are several sides to the outdoor life, typified at one end by used static caravans, which let you claim a little nook of the world as your own for ever more; and at the other by luxury motorhomes, which let you take every modern convenience you could think of and throw the lot at a series of road trips. Where you opt for static caravan ownership, you get to take on a real holiday home – a place that belongs to you and your family, a place that you can visit whenever you want, and for as long as you want. When you choose to buy a luxury motor home, you get to travel the length and breadth of England, sampling the landscape, nipping into the towns, living the life of the road.

Question is, then – which one do you want? Both used static caravans and luxury motorhomes have unique and equally appealing things to offer you, so your answer really depends on the kind of person you are. If you like the idea of actually living somewhere, when you are on holiday – of growing a relationship with a place and its surroundings, of getting to know people in the area and having somewhere on this earth that you can retreat to, a place where you get to slip into a whole pre-made life – then statics are your heaven on earth. The joy of ownership combined with the comfort of roots and the fresh open air life of the caravan park can be a lifelong pleasure.

If, on the other hand, you like the idea of being rootless, never tied down, always free to slip away and move on – then luxury motorhomes are your best bet. Fitted to perfection with enough furniture to be a home – but smart, compact and eminently mobile – the luxury motor home is the ultimate road trip companion. Either way, static or motor home, you’ll be in clover for the rest of your life: enjoying your holidays, your way.
