Stain attracting tartar is of cement like quality and this is the culprit that enables the survival of plaque and its bacteria.

Eating right is the only way to achieve good body, mouth and teeth health. Snacking on food rich in sugar and starch like pastries, cookies, cakes or breads should be limited in frequency. Make sure that you do not prolong the duration of food inside the mouth as this gives rise to acids from plaque which make the tooth enamel destruct. Food that can be sucked like candies and cough drops should be lessened.

When you do eat foods high in sugar or starch, try to eat them with your meals, rather than as snacks. While eating, your mouth produces more saliva that flush out food and also neutralize acid properly. It would be wise that one flosses and brushes his teeth after each meal. If you've eaten but cannot brush your teeth, try chewing sugarless gum. For acid neutralization and food clearance, try chewing gum that produces saliva flow.
