Top 5 Photo Sharing Sites

Author : Rick Valence

Photo Bucket is regarded as a one of the best photo sharing websites out there. It is an online service available as a free to use option and a pro option which is payable every month. The service allows you to share your photos on various social networking websites such as facebook, MySpace and hi5. You can easily upload your photo albums using the bulk upload java tool from the website though for the free to use service there is a 10 GB limit; on the pro edition there is no such limit. Both services allow you to either make your albums private or public, by preparing the html code necessary to access your albums from any website. Private albums can be set to request a guest password before opening.

Flickr is probably the most popular photo sharing service having a wide range of ways to upload photos to your account. You can upload photos in bulk to your account using their desktop tool for windows and Mac OS, via email as well as through a camera smart phone. Flickr offers its services as a free to use and pro option with the free accounts having a 20 MB monthly upload limit. Their service allows you to create photoset which work in a similar way as albums with the added advantage of creating slideshows.

Webshots host one of the largest galleries on the internet, an estimated 530 million photographs. The company has several users of their services and much like its competitors their services a both paid and unpaid. They have a slight difference in their business model concerning maximum uploads where the limits on the free accounts are based on the number of photographs uploaded. Currently, the limit on the free account is 3000 photographs with no limit on paid accounts.

Fotki is a well known photo sharing service. The company's pro service boasts of no limit on the number of photos which can be uploaded. Unfortunately unlike some of the players in this industry, you can not upload video files to your account. Some users would also like to take advantage of forming private groups who can access particular photo albums which can not be achieved with Fotki. The company's service is praised though for its ease of use.

Care2 Connect is a great photo sharing tool with a particular emphasis on focus groups. Their service allows you to share photos with friends and associates and also to connect with like minded people who have a similar interest in the subject of your photos. The site is well organized and runs several user forums to get anybody started. The limits on uploads are 200 photos per month though over time you effectively have unlimited storage space for free.

If you like to share photos anyone of these sites will take care of you. And of course, who could forget Facebook and Twitter? Not necessarily designed as photo sharing sites, they have become platforms that cannot be ignored when it comes to sharing visual media.
