Why Commission A Bespoke Aquarium

Author : Kirsten Hendrich

Keeping fish is becoming more and more popular, and the design of aquariums is also become more and more advanced. Many home owners and business owners are turning to companies who specialise in bespoke aquariums, commissioning some amazing looking aquariums to make their home or work space stand out from the crowd. The look and feel created by a unique aquarium can really add the wow factor to any space, and the limits of design are almost as far stretched as the most creative of imaginations. This article discusses a few reasons as to why people commission a bespoke aquarium, and the benefits this can bring you.

Size

Size can be one of the most limiting factors if you are buying a pre-made aquarium. As many people will know, most rooms have space limitations be that the shape of the room or the amount of furniture already occupying the space. Therefore, having an aquarium built specifically for the space you have can maximise the effect you can create, and will give you many more options compared to buying a pre-made tank 'off the shelf'. Most aquarium manufacturers will also work closely with interior designers who can help make the most of the space you have available and advise you on your options.

Species

If you are looking to stock fish species of the more exotic variety, you will need to make sure you cater for their needs. By commissioning an aquarium with the species of fish in mind, you can build the perfect environment for them to live in; be that providing adequate hiding holes, or space for specific plant life that will help your fish thrive. Often, certain species of fish will only be able to live together if certain elements are provided; they may need a certain amount of space or hiding places from with they can get out of each other's way. By having an aquarium built specifically, you can make sure that all of these requirements are catered for.

Look

Many people who set up an aquarium do so because they feel their room would benefit from the look of an aquarium, rather than simply a passion for keeping fish. Restaurants, bars and businesses alike make stunning use of aquariums when trying to create a specific atmosphere in their establishment. A well designed aquarium can serve purpose as a great looking piece of furniture and any aquarium manufacturing company should be able to provide a stand or cabinet to suit your requirements. Again, the use of interior designers can come in very handy to make sure that the effect of this is maximised.

The Wow Factor

Aquarium design knows nearly no bounds. Having an aquarium installed within a wall, as a table or bar, or sitting amongst your kitchen units are all more common place than you might think. If you are particularly creative, try contacting some companies to see if your ideas are possible, you might surprise yourself!
