Car Insurance Is Imperative!

Author : Dakota Lindal

When you start thinking about insurance, car insurance is one of the most discussed and debated subjects. It's one of those necessities that we just love to hate, where we are always trying to find a cheaper way out and where we don't even want to think about all the technicalities involved with trying to put in a claim!

We live in society where public transport is not up to standard. It is not possible to quickly hop on the train to take you to work or on a bus if you want to go shopping. The train will probably get you to the station in one peace (as long as the train driver is not on strike!) but how will you get from the train station to your office? Will you walk? Or take a taxi? Not two options that you are likely to consider in our country. And what if you have to see clients during the course of the day?

For that reason owning a car and driving it for your day to day commuting is practically unavoidable. We are so dependent on our cars to get us to work safely, to take us grocery shopping, for family excursions, to get the kids to school and to sporting activities - in fact, try to think of any activity that you partake in without having to make use of your car! (Camping in your back yard does not count!)

As with other insurance, car insurance comes at a price! If you have a sporty, expensive model in your driveway, you need to make sure that you will be properly covered in case of any incident. Just because you are a cautious, responsible driver on the road, does not mean that you can expect the same from your fellow road users! Some drivers are practicing their racing skills on our highways while others are using peak hour traffic to do their make up in the rearview mirrors. On top of that the roads are congested and often in a bad condition. Accidents are inevitable!

A fully comprehensive policy will cover all your costs and is the best route to follow when your car is relatively new, relatively expensive or still belongs to the bank! If you still owe the bank money and your car is a write-off, you still need to pay the bank, even if you have no car to show anymore - talk about a waste of money! If only your insurance was taken care of.

If you feel nothing for your car and are actually hoping that the car would just drive off a cliff (preferably without you!) you might be thinking that insurance might be wasted on you. You are partially right, but also totally wrong! What if you are the cause of an accident where another party is injured or where serious damage to their car is caused? Because the accident was your fault, you are responsible for covering all their costs! In this case, third party insurance would be the most cost effective policy to go for. This policy will cover the other party's injuries and damages, but will unfortunately not pay you for a new car to replace your dilapidated piece of metal.

Insurance, car or any other, is not a waste of money! It can in effect save you a lot of money when you need it most!
