Nicknames And Social Media..!!

Author : check buzz

What is the use or relevance of using nicknames on social media networking sites?

I do understand that using nicknames shows that you are not interested in showing your true identity to the strangers in order to maintain your privacy but does that really works? For people who have engaged themselves in social sites just for the sake of contact or relationship continuity surely it works. But what about the organizations or brands ? I have seen many brands presence on social sites with the nick names and i found it very weird.

In my opinion how can one give a nickname to its own brand? Rather nicknames are generally given by others and for this brand should do proper engagement with the social media users.

Social element implies an openness and transparency in communication, sharing, participation, cooperation and collaboration—all of which are good for business. So a good nickname will properly communicate your brand's presence.

Brands still need to find the right balance between talking and being talked about, and they still have to distinguish themselves from others by having a unique voice and perspective. For this they should make their real online presence not pseudo names, because the focus of brands is to create strong contacts with their customers along with the potential consumers. If they use their fake identity they would surely loose the trust of their clients, in fact won't be able to get the required information from social networking sites.

Along with the nicknames one thing which also plays a significant role in SMM (Social Media Marketing) is an avatar/image. The image should represent your brand & it should be decent. Dual meaning images are not properly understood by many online users. Brand images should not be aloof so that one can easily distinguish you from others.

Smart marketers realize this and embrace a branded image along with the a relevant brand name on the social media networking sites. This yields in maximum brand exposure through sustained cross-media conversations.

So, one can surely have nickname but it should not misguide rather it should clearly represents the brands name.
