Though some people are at higher risk for heartburn most can help themselves by avoiding foods that cause heartburn.

Many people experience some form of heartburn at least once a month. Others experience it more often. This has lead to the pharmaceuticals cashing in on the people who complain of heartburn. That number could be greatly reduced if certain foods that cause heartburn were not consumed.

One of the leading foods that cause heartburn is surprisingly in the fruit group. Citrus fruit is particularly a culprit. Most people would assume that would be lemons, oranges, and grapefruits and the juices and products made for them. That means thinking again about that milkshake, or dollop of ice cream.

You may be surprised to find that soda pop is a another food that can cause heartburn. Various beverages that contribute to heartburn are coffee and tea, alcohol and of course the citrus drinks such as tomato, orange or grapefruit juice.
