Preparing Your House For A Quick Sale

Author : Kirsten Hendrich

It's often said that selling your house is one of the most stressful things you can ever do, and most people get wound up wandering why their house isn't selling as fast as they might like. A lot of vendors who end up in this position are simply there because they failed to do the right research and prepare their house correctly for a quick sale. This needn't take too much effort and it's all about shifting your point of view from a resident to thinking about what potential buyers might like to see. This article goes through a few simple steps to helping you gain the best chances for a quick house sale. Hopefully it will help you on your way to selling your property.

Research

The first step is to do some research into the market and try to find out about current trends and what buyers are looking for. There are many ways you can do this and looking through some property magazines is always a good place to start. They are often full of examples of modern interiors all appealing to the house buying market. You could also arrange some viewings and look at a few houses to get a buyers view of the market. From this you should start to develop a good impression of how your house might appear to potential buyers.

De-Clutter

Having a good old de-clutter will help create a better first impression when buyers come to view your property. Having a tidy house will make your rooms seem larger and more spacious and that is exactly what buyers like to see. You never know, that could make all the difference if no-one else has bothered to do the same. Rooms should appear to be how they were intended to be used. For example, bedrooms should be places of sleep...not storage dumps! De-cluttering will also make your life a lot easier when it comes to moving.

Re-Decorate

You don't have to do anything major here, as it's probably likely that people will eventually want to do their own thing with your property, however having a fresh 'feel' to the place creates a great impression with buyers. They like to feel that they can move straight in, without anything major having to be done immediately. Sometimes this can be hard as everyone has their own opinions of what looks good, but that's when you have to start letting go a little bit and thinking about the buyer!
