Being a great singer requires the discipline not to lose or destroy too much of a song's inherent melody for the sole purpose of making it "your own". There are exceptions, but so many modern-day "singers" (often "vocal acrobats" and American Idol-styled "vibrato junkies") don't have the GIFT of or "ear for" melody and rhythm. All too often the message (lyric) or spirit of a SONG gets lost as a result BAD phrasing choices.Only the best singers and song interpreters can be called "artists".

its great and amazing this is still so very popular. The Beatles are musical giants and having been born to their music (65)and growing up to it, their music now spans 3 generations in our family. My mum still has the original albums, even ones from Germany, sadly she wont let them be played as they are so precious. But one day she said, she will pass them to me. The Beatles influenced alot of bands and not many have stood the test of time.

Many may dispute the quality of their voices. Granted, they never did any vocal acrobatics, and they were not smooth jazz singers, but their melodies are just plain amazing. The minor scales and half notes, the syncopation of syllables. I'm a fan and I'm only 30.

Jlbroich if you had any musical understanding what so ever you would realize that you should be praising this band for pioneering the path and branch of music you now listen to. Go listen to Hey Jude, one of the first songs that had audible screaming incorperated into the song, your so called "Metal" comes from the influence that the Beatles had on all other bands at this time. And I know for a fact your "Metal" band while may not like The Beatles, at least respect them, for what they did.
